| Hi, I'm working in a statutory board and our bonuses are decided by performance and a bell-curve system. In my team, there are five people - three of the same level and two seniors. Of one the two seniors is genuinely hard-working and does her job well but the other has been with the corporation for over 30 years but she works smarter than she works harder. The rest of the three of us work hard too but our bosses see the two seniors as indispensable, so the good bandings are always given to them, without fail, every year. So, we get the leftovers, despite the fact that we don't earn half as much as the two seniors. My question is - yes, the seniors work hard but SO DO WE. So, do the three of us!! Can't we at least have a chance? The bosses even have the cheek to say that yes, we are competent - just that we are in the wrong department. WHAT?! Doesn't make a hell of a sense, right?! Why transfer us from other departments and work our asses off for five years and while executives from other departments sail through promotions without doing much work while we slog like buffalos and then after half a decade, tell us we are in the wrong department?! What the f**k?! Yes, the seniors deserve to be rewarded accordingly but hey, give us a chance at least a year or two!!! You expect sooo much from us and we deliver and we can't even be allowed a chance to be rewarded properly at least once? |
